This article will help you out to complete the setup of the ASUS wireless router including the basic wire connection and physical setup. The various steps shown below can be used with most of the ASUS routers, but the physical connections may vary according to the model of your router.
The following are the various steps involved in the process.
- First of all, there are three cables that need to be connected.
- You have to connect the Ethernet cable of your DSL modem to the WAN port located on your ASUS router, the port is labeled with a ring around it (blue port).
- Then connect another Ethernet cable to the any of the LAN ports on the router, labeled as 1, 2, 3, 4 and yellow color.
- At last, connect the power cable to the DCIN port on the router (green color).
- After connecting the cables shown below, press the power button that is located on the back side of your router.
- Once the router is powered on, open the web browser that you are using. Then open the ASUS setup page, you can also enter the web address manually by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar menu or you can search for Asus router login rt ac87u and then press enter.
- In the next page, you have to enter the login details like the username and the password. The default username and password is admin and then click OK.
- Click Go, on the initial setup page. Before proceeding further, it is recommended to change the default username and password as this information can be used to access the router settings.
- In the next step, enter the network name (SSID) and the network key (password) into the corresponding boxes, and then click on Apply.
- A window appears to you showing “Completed Network Configuration Summary”. Click Next to proceed further.
- Again enter the login credentials and click OK to proceed further.
